What is Spin The Wheel?

Spin The Wheel is a free online wheel spinner that picks a random result from any list you give it. Enter names, numbers, food, tasks or anything else, one per line, and the wheel turns them into colourful slices. Hit spin and the wheel whirls, ticks past each slice, and lands on a winner with a burst of confetti.

People use it every day to pick raffle winners, choose students in class, settle arguments, decide what to eat, run giveaways on stream, and turn boring choices into a bit of fun. It works on phones, tablets, laptops and classroom projectors, with nothing to download and no account to create.

How to use the wheel spinner

  1. Type or paste your options into the Entries box, one per line.
  2. Optional: add *2, *3 and so on after an entry to make it more likely, e.g. "Pizza*3".
  3. Press Spin, tap the wheel, press Space, or grab the wheel and flick it.
  4. Watch it land. The winner pops up with confetti, and you can remove it, spin again or share the result.
  5. Your wheel saves automatically in your browser. Use the Share button to share it with anyone.

Features that make it better

  • Flick to spin: drag the wheel with your mouse or finger, and a harder flick spins it faster.
  • Three modes: Normal, Elimination (winners are removed) and Tally (counts wins per entry).
  • Weighted entries: give some options better odds with a simple *number.
  • Share links: the whole wheel is saved inside the link, so no account is needed.
  • Result cards: download or share a "The wheel picked…" image of any result.
  • Sounds and confetti, with eight colour themes, full-screen mode and dark mode.
  • Spin history and win counts, which you can copy or download.
  • Handles hundreds of entries smoothly on any device.

Is the wheel really random?

Yes. Every result is chosen with your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), the same kind of randomness used for security keys. The winner is picked fairly first, with each entry's chance proportional to its slice size, and then the wheel animates to land on it. Nobody, including us, can influence or predict the outcome.

You do not have to take that on trust. The Odds tab beside every wheel shows the exact chance of each entry and runs a fairness test of up to 100,000 instant spins through the same generator. For the background, read is computer randomness really random?.

  • Work: pick who runs stand-up, choose a retro format, assign code reviews.
  • Families: chore rotas, weekend plans, who gets the front seat.

Frequently asked questions

Is Spin The Wheel free?

Yes, it is completely free with no signup, no limits on spins and no download. It runs in any modern web browser.

How many entries can I add to the wheel?

You can add hundreds of entries. Labels are shown for up to 400 slices; beyond that the wheel still spins fairly and shows the winner in the result popup.

Can I make one option more likely to win?

Yes. Add an asterisk and a number after the entry, like "Pizza*3". That entry gets a slice three times bigger and three times the chance of any normal entry.

How do I remove a name after it wins?

Click "Remove" in the winner popup, or switch to Elimination mode so every winner is removed automatically. The "Restore" button brings removed entries back.

Can I save and share my wheel?

Your wheel saves automatically in your browser. Click the Share button to copy a link that opens the exact same wheel on any device, with no account needed.

Does the wheel work on mobile?

Yes. It is designed mobile-first: tap the wheel, press Spin, or flick it with your finger for a faster spin.

Can I use the wheel on a projector or live stream?

Yes. Press the full-screen button for a big, clean wheel that is perfect for classrooms, meetings and streams.
